Schulte speaks at Midnight Madness
Paul
Schulte helped crank up the enthusiasm for the start of the collegiate
basketball season by appearing as a guest speaker at the University of
Kansas' Midnight Madness activities on Friday, October 14th. The event drew
thousands of KU fans and an ESPN audience. Collegiate teams will begin their
competitive seasons on about November 15th. The Wheelchair Mavs will tip off
their season on December 15th in Phoenix, Arizona.
The NWBA and star player Paul Schulte were honored as a part
of the "Late Night at the Phog" festivities at the University of Kansas
Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday evening.
The event included an eight minute tribute to the NWBA and
Schulte before a crowd of more than 16,000. After the tribute Schulte
addressed the crowd over several standing ovations.
The event, which as been held annually since 1985, kicks off
the basketball season at the school. The event was covered live by ESPN.
The KU Athletic Department included the NWBA and Schulte in
recognition of Disability Awareness Month.
