It's ability, not disability that counts

#53 Paul Hill

Chuck AllenPaul Hill - A veteran big man with great court awareness, Paul adds an assertive inside presence to the Mavs line up. His smooth and steady demeanor makes him the type player that teammates appreciate.

Born: Vancouver, Washington, October 19, 1963
Lives: Spokane, Washington
Works: High school English teacher.
Education: Eastern Washington University, Summa Cum Laude
Disability: Osteoarthritis, diagnosed at age 17

In his spare time: Paul enjoys spending time with family (wife, Lynne, daughters Heather and Allie, and grandson Aidan) and four dogs at the moment. His lap dog is a two-year-old Great Dane, Cassidy, who, when he wants, can just about look Paul in the eyes.

Admires: Everyone who has helped a child.

Other talents: He can’t sing or dance but has enough sense not to dance.

Best team basketball moment: 2004 National Championship with Denver (beat the Mavs in that one), 2002 World Championships.

Best personal basketball moment: The first time he played basketball again after “retiring at 17.” It was a “rat-ball” practice; he was in a beat-up, hand-me-down Kushall; It was love at first swoosh!
